If you’ve ever visited a Cracker Barrel, you’ve likely challenged yourself to their low-tech triangle golf tee game. Bring that fun challenge home by crafting one of your own! Follow their traditional format or invent a new game of your own (like a water gun golf ball carnival challenge).
Materials
- Golf tees
- Piece of wood
- Drill
- Permanent marker
- Saw
- Sandpaper
- Pencil
Brainstorm
What kind of game do you want to make? Think about games that you already like to play. Is there a way you can create a golf tee challenge based on that? Don’t be afraid to try multiple ideas!
Activity
Do you know what kind of game you want to make? Good! Let’s start to make it a reality.
Start by thinking about the shape of your gameboard. Carefully saw your piece of wood into the desired shape, and use the sandpaper to soften any rough edges. (Because who wants splinters anyways?!)
Use your pencil to mark where you want your golf tees to sit on your gameboard. Carefully use your drill to make holes on your pencil marks. Then, check to make sure the holes will fit your golf tees snugly! If the holes are too small, try a bigger drill bit.
Once you’ve gotten your holes drilled, make sure to sand the game board again to protect against splinters. Make the gameboard your own by writing your game’s rules or adding unique designs with your permanent marker. You could even paint or use wood stain to make the final product perfect!
