HISTORY OF TWISTER

According to the American Association of University Women (AAUW), women comprise only 28% of the workforce in science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM). To combat this inequity and inspire a life-long love of STEM Adventure Science Center hosts TWISTER yearly. This event is a one-day STEM conference for high school students who identify as female. 

Since its inception in 2003, Adventure Science Center’s TWISTER Conference has impacted more than 1500 attendees and over 400 women have volunteered as presenters. February 2025 will be our 22nd annual TWISTER Conference!

SCHOLARSHIPS FOR HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS

Two scholarships from Women in Technology of Tennessee will be awarded to two graduating female seniors in Tennessee. Scholarship recipients will be introduced, and awards will be presented at the TWISTER event on February 8 by representatives of Women in Technology of Tennessee.

WiTT Scholarship 

1st place: $7,500
2nd place: $5,000

Priority deadline: January 13, 2025
Deadline to apply: January 27, 2025

Adventure Science Center is excited to partner with women and organizations in STEM fields who are eager to be a part of TWISTER and want to inspire, empower, and encourage young women. The success of the TWISTER Conference depends on its volunteers.
