INFORMAL DESCRIPTION

Help our Coordinator facilitate activities for over 1,000 visitors weekly while maintaining a safe and welcoming environment. POSITION OVERVIEW
This position is responsible for facilitating activities within the Innovation Incubator Makerspace. The primary responsibility of this role will be to focus on effectively guiding guests through crafts, activities, and workshops that take place within the space. Effective communication skills, commitment to guest experience, and a passion for learning and sharing the principles of science, technology, engineering, arts/creativity, and math are essential attributes for this position.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High school diploma required
- Candidates with completed college coursework will be given preference
- Experience facilitating hands-on science or technology programs is preferred
- Experience working with youth and families is preferred
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
- Professional appearance and demeanor required
- Ability to work up to 30 hours per week, weekends, and some evenings required
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Programmatic Support
- Ability to operate and oversee Innovation Incubator Makerspace during public hours
- Ability to engage visitors with technology present in the space such as 3D printers, laser cutters, robotics, and other STEM-related tech
- Work with fellow Innovation Incubator and ASC team members to develop and lead programming for public and special events
- Ability to prep 600+ individual craft kits each week
- Ability to curate maker activities and execute them on a large scale (600+ per week)
- Daily upkeep and cleaning of Innovation Incubator including vacuuming, taking out trash, and wiping down tables
- Ability to organize a multitude of different materials and parts
Customer Service
- Basic knowledge of customer service principles, techniques, systems, and standards
- Proactively engage guests, school groups, and campers with personal and inspiring interactions while showing genuine enthusiasm about ASC
- Anticipate guest needs and solve issues or concerns with a positive, courteous, helpful, respectful, and professional attitude
- Willing to work with and provide direction to support-staff, ASC volunteers, and any other visitor in Innovation Incubator
Operational Support
- Attend bi-monthly staff meetings and any scheduled Public Programming meeting
- Report technical, maintenance, safety, and security needs within Innovation Incubator to the appropriate staff member or department
- Perform core operational functions of visitor safety and wayfinding
- Assist during emergency and evacuation situations

POSITION SUMMARY
Execute and coordinate private rentals to meet the needs of the client while meeting the policies and financial goals of the science center, consult with and provide pertinent event details to the Event Manager in timely manner, work or be lead for Adventure Science Center events, and administrative duties as assigned.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Act as point of contact for appointed daytime and after-hours rentals.
- Where necessary; attend advance site visits/event walk-throughs and rehearsals
- Execute the ‘day of’ event logistics, including but not limited to:
- Oversee event set up, ensuring cleanliness, preparedness, and safety and that all event spaces are set per client request.
- Serve as point of contact for hired security, facilities, exhibits, and other science center departments including relaying pertinent event information and maintaining contact.
- Serve as the onsite representative for event vendors, facilitate their load in/load out, and serve as the point of contact for their venue-related needs throughout the event
- Aid the client in executing their vision and requirements including but not limited to: AV connections, décor/setup needs, and guest satisfaction.
- Adhere to IEO instructions and needs
- Actively lead and participate in servicing of clients throughout the event
- Where required; Collect payments and necessary paperwork.
- Update Tripleseat data and financials as needed.
- Prepare event closing report after each event and submit to Event Manager at the conclusion of the event.
- Work with Event Manager to evaluate and address any event issues and provide suggestions for improvement.
- Send follow-up thank you to event clients’ post-event.
- Develop a basic understanding of the reservation software Altru, used for taking payments.
- Develop a basic understanding of the event software Tripleseat used for detailing events, creating event documents, tracking communications, and sales and financial reporting.
- Provide other administrative support to the Events team and maintain event files as needed.
- Work Adventure Science Center events as assigned and when needed.
- Perform other duties as needed/assigned.
Position Requirements & Qualifications
Education/Experience
- Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and 2-3 years event rental or hospitality experience
- At least one year of catering or event management experience, preferably in a rental venue setting.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to work flexible and varied hours, including nights, weekends, and/or holidays
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively explain technical and/or event related concepts across a wide range of client types (donors, community leaders, musicians, industry trade groups, event organizers, and others).

Camp at Adventure Science Center (ASC) provides a wide range of science enrichment programs for youth ages 5-12. Programs combine science, technology, engineering and math in ways that encourage kids to actively discover and examine concepts for themselves. We inspire a life-long passion for learning and teach kids creative problem-solving skills, teamwork, persistence, and follow-through in a fun learning environment.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Consistent with the mission and vision of the Adventure Science Center, and under the direction of the Sr, Coordinator, Experience Planning, the Camp Counselor is responsible for supervising his/her assigned group of up to 18 campers that are organized by grades K-1st, 2nd- 3rd, and 4th-6th (ages range 5-12). Camp staff maintain the safety of the campers and ensure the camp’s daily program runs efficiently through detailed supervision and objective decision-making. Camp Counselors utilize a set curriculum, organized supplies, and established programming to facilitate exciting, memorable camp experiences and activities.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
- Shifts may vary throughout the week, from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm
- This is a temporary, seasonal position during Metro Nashville Public School’s Winter Break: Monday, December 30, 2024 – Friday, January 3, 2025
