December Theme: Tech the Halls Month

Tinkering isn't just for elves in a workshop. Explore coding, robots, and other tech this month at Adventure Science Center.

Check out a few of the activities we're facilitating for Tech the Halls Month.

Themed programming will take place:

• Every day in the i2 Makerspace
• Every Monday at 9:30 am in the Early Explorer Storytime in Eureka Theatre
• Optional theme build in Tinkering Garage
• Floor cart activities on the floor throughout the month

Polaris PJ Party

December 15, 21, 22, 28, and 29.

This December, put on your favorite pajamas and join us for a special showing of Polaris in the Sudekum Planetarium, followed by hot cocoa and a liquid nitrogen marshmallow demonstration.

Polaris is best for kids ages 4-12, but all ages are welcome at this winter celebration!

Early Explorer Storytime Books and Activities

• December 9: Unplugged Ninja
  • Author/Illustrator: Mary Nihn
    
  • Early Explorers will make a paper bag ninja, complete with a lightsaber!
    
• December 16: When Charlie McButton Lost Power
  
  • Author/Illustrator: Suzanne Collins and Mike Lester
    
  • Early Explorers will learn about the power of batteries by making a Play-Doh sculpture and lighting it up using LEDs, a battery pack, and simple circuitry.
• December 23: Rusty the Squeaky Rocket
  
  • Author/Illustrator: Neil Clark
  • Early Explorers will design and assemble a robot using a tube and decorations including pipe cleaners, pom poms, googly eyes, buttons, beads, nuts, and bolts. 
    
• December 30: How Does My Home Work? 
  
  • Author/Illustrator: Chris Butterworth and Lucia Gaggiotti 
    
  • Early Explorers will use LEGOs to build a house. Then, they will send an energetic nano bug through their house to explore.

Time: Every Monday at 9:30 am
Location: Eureka Theatre on the second floor
Ages: Pre-K (Kids Under Five)
