November Theme: Transportation Month

By Adventure Science Center

Discover what makes cars move, why airplanes travel so quickly, and what keeps boats afloat this month at Adventure Science Center.

Check out a few of the activities we're facilitating for Transportation Month.

Themed programming will take place:

Nissan Transportation Day

On Friday, November 8, we're hosting Transportation Day at the science center.

Our friends from Nissan will be on-site to help us facilitate several exciting activities related to trains, planes, and automobiles!

Here are some of the exciting activities you can look forward to:

  • Cork Boats
    • Using rubber bands, cork, and other materials, construct a cork boat to test in our pool of water. Learn how to improve your boat to keep it afloat.
  • Wind Sail Cars
    • Craft a car out of cardboard, bottle cap wheels, and a sail. Then, race your windsail car down a track.
  • Paper Helicopters
    • Make a helicopter out of popsicle sticks, rubber bands, and a propeller. After spinning your propeller to gain potential energy, release it into the air and watch it fly into the sky.
  • mBot Robots
    • These robots have sensors to help them follow a line. Learn about the amazing technology being engineered in the vehicles you use every day.

    • Early Explorers will make an airplane and use a propeller to zip across Eureka Theatre on a string!
  • November 18: Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!
    • Author/Illustrator: Mo Willems
