October Theme: Human Body Month

Explore the exciting world of weather this month at Adventure Science Center.

Check out a few of the activities we're facilitating this month and explore the science behind it all.

Themed programming will take place:

• Every day in the i2 Makerspace
• Every Monday at 9:30 am in the Early Explorer Storytime in Eureka Theatre
• Optional theme build in Tinkering Garage
• Floor cart activities on the floor throughout the month

Early Explorer Storytime Books and Activities

• October 7: My Amazing Body, A First Look at Health and Fitness
  
  • Early Explorers will learn about the incredible things inside and outside of their bodies. They will see how their nose and mouth are connected to their lungs in a blow-up-lung activity.
• October 14: The Tooth Book 
  • Early Explorers will learn about all the amazing things our teeth can do and what we should do to care for them. They will brush and floss a model set of teeth and then use play dough to make a set of pearly whites.
• October 21: The Magic School Bus, Inside the Human Body 
  
  • Early Explorers will travel through the human body with Ms. Frizzle, and explore the parts of blood with a sensory bin exploration activity. They will take "red blood cells", "platelets", and "white blood cells" home with them to keep exploring.
    
• October 28: Dem Bones
  • Early Explorers will learn about the structure of their body - their skeleton. They will lay out Q-tips in the shape of their hand to see how many bones it takes to give a high-five.

Adventure Science Center is open:

Monday, Thursday, Friday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm
Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
